Spices From the West: Northerly Search Guide — Genshin Impact

Nazafarin and her signature The Spices From the West event have returned in 2023 as the Northerly Search, during which Genshin Impact Travelers must cook fragrant, delicious dishes for companions in their roster. The seasoning recipe minigame and taste tests for the characters in your Serenitea Pot will be the main attractions for many fans. However, the primary benefit of participating in any iteration of the Spices From the West event is to boost your favorite characters’ Companionship EXP. 

How to play Spices From the West: Northerly Search in Genshin Impact

To get started on 2023’s Northerly Search version of Spices From the West, Genshin Impact players must initiate the event by speaking with Nazafari. She can be found standing in front of the Mondstadt City’s Good Hunter. If you’re new to the spices event, note that you’ll need to complete “Idle Teapot Talk,” a Serenitea Pot quest that becomes available at Adventure Rank 28.

As the days of the event progress, you will unlock new seasoning recipes to use in Spices From the West. Moreover, the cap on the number of times you can give your characters the corresponding dishes is increased by three. Each recipe will always have three ingredients, but the resources used will differ for each seasoning. For instance, the first day of the event features “Cool and Sour-Sweet,” which is made using Valberry, Wolfhook, and Mint. 

The minigame of Spices From the West: Northerly Search in Genshin Impact is a simple timed-button-press activity that requires you to add the ingredients in the proper order. Once the seasoning has been crafted, use any active cooking stove or pot to make one of the listed meals of the event in their “Delicious” form. After adding the seasoning, the dish will convert into a meal that can only be given to your companions in your Serenitea Pot.

For clarification, here’s a brief step-by-step rundown of how every day of the Spices From the West event will proceed:

1. Gather three ingredients for a seasoning recipe.
2. Play the event minigame to craft the seasoning.
3. Cook three featured delicious meals and add the seasoning you made. 
4. Enter your Serenitea Pot and choose the “Please try this!” dialogue option to increase the companion’s Companionship EXP.
