The first trailer for the highly anticipated Spider-Man: No Way Home, the web headโ€™s third solo outing in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), hasnโ€™t even been online for very long and itโ€™s already breaking records.

Webbing in Views

Per Collider and CNET, Sony Pictures announced that the trailer broke the 24-hour record for most global views with 355.5 million views on Sonyโ€™s official YouTube channel. The first trailer for Avengers: Endgame, another highly anticipated MCU film, previously held this record with 289 million views on Marvelโ€™s official YouTube channel.

The film studio also mentioned that the No Way Home trailer has generated 4.5 million social media mentions around the world, which sounds big enough for the Avengers to take note of.

Spidey Through the Multiverse

Spider-Man Doctor Strange

For those who have not yet seen the trailer, this film follows the mid-credits stinger (or shall we say slinger) of Spider-Man: Far from Home in which Mysterio frames Peter Parker (Tom Holland) for his death and reveals to the world that Peter is Spider-Man.

Wanting to protect himself and his loved ones, Peter goes to Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) and asks him to make the world forget his secret identity. Unfortunately, this amnesia spell backfires and the two inadvertently open the multiverse.

Multiple Possibilities

Doc Ock

In addition to the multiverse reveal, this first trailer has a lot for viewers to latch onto.

One shot features Green Goblinโ€™s signature pumpkin bomb complete with an ominous laugh that has led fans to believe Willem Dafoe will reprise the role that he first played in Sam Raimiโ€™s first Spider-Man film back in 2002.

Moreover, this trailer also gives fans a brief look at Alfred Molina as Doc Ock, who he excellently played in Raimiโ€™s Spider-Man 2.

These two images, some interesting LEGO sets, and Jamie Foxx reprising the role of Electro from The Amazing Spider-Man 2, have all fueled speculation that No Way Home will set up the Sinister Six in the MCU.

Weโ€™ll just have to wait and see when the film hits theaters on December 17.
