It’s been a tumultuous decade for the Spiderman movie franchise, as his Marvel friends have excelled and broken box office records, Sony’s iterations of Peter Parker and company have struggled through two separate franchises and are headed for a third. On the bright side the next – and hopefully final – reboot officially brings Spider Man home to the Marvel Universe this summer in Spiderman: Homecoming.
Marvel released the film’s first official trailer last night on Jimmy Kimmel’s Late Night show, following a teaser the previous day of that included a few GoPro shots of Tom Holland’s rendition of spidey. While previous installments have certainly tried to capture the comics essence, this trailer proves that Tom Holland is an amazing (pun intended) pick for Spiderman and Peter Parker.

While Mcguire and Garfield managed to excel in certain area’s, Holland nails the look and feel of the quirky, awkward high school Peter Parker portrayed in the comics. Whether he’s awkwardly staring at his crush too long or hugging Tony Stark at incorrect moments, it feels far more relatable and genuine than the previous attempts.
The flurry of action seen in the trailer, coupled alongside the puns and quips being made simultaneously, still manage to feel natural despite Holland’s lanky frame. From what we’ve seen thus far, marvel has done a great job of reinforcing the characteristics that everyone loved about Spiderman’s debut in Captain America: Civil War.

The trailer didn’t reveal entirely too much about the story, other than that Michael Keaton looks imposing as the Vulture. Only time will tell whether this spiderman homecoming will weave a web of movie magic and join his fellow Avengers on the list of great superhero movies or whether this will be spidey’s third and final strike.
Spiderman: Homecoming is directed by John Watt and will be released in US theaters July 7, 2017. For more information be sure to stay tuned to the site for all things Spiderman, and If you haven’t seen the trailer be sure to check it out above!
