The Spyro Reignited Trilogy has been delayed from its release date of September 21, and will now launch on November 13.

Paul Yan, head of studio Toys for Bob, confirmed the delay in a blog post yesterday. Yan claims that the developers are “deeply committed to getting these games right” and that “the Trilogy needs more love and care”.

Here is Yan’s full statement:

“Everyone here at Toys for Bob is so proud to be reigniting the original Spyro trilogy after all these years. We’re deeply committed to getting these games right, so we’ve decided to move the release date of Spyro Reignited Trilogy to November 13, 2018. I really hoped that you would be rescuing dragons and scorching Rhynocs sooner, but the Trilogy needs more love and care.  In November when you’re exploring the Dragon Realms, Avalar and the Forgotten Worlds, we know you’ll agree the extra time was worth the wait.”

Activision has also commented on the delay of Spyro saying that additional polish is needed on all three games in the package. The publisher wants the trilogy to “not only live up to fans’ expectations but our own incredibly high standards.”

“Spyro fans deserve the best game possible, so we’ve decided to take some extra time to polish all three games and deliver the definitive Spyro collection on our new launch day, November 13, 2018,” Activision said in their statement.

This news comes just after Activision released a controversial statement about the Trilogy claiming only Spyro the Dragon would be playable on the disc. Players would have to download the remaining two titles, Spyro 2: Ripto’s Rage, and Spyro: Year of the Dragon, if they wanted to play them. Nothing was said until the words “Requires Content Download” were discovered on the back of the game’s box, to which Activision responded that games having a download after they are purchased is a “quite common” practice in the industry.

Delays are usually a good thing, but its a shame this game isn’t coming out sooner. Tell us what you think in the comments below.
