Bethesda’s Starfield could have had a stronger launch. Before the highly anticipated release of its first expansion, it seems the developer might be working on another major expansion according to a new trademark leak. The Starborn trademark for Starfield was discovered recently, and all signs point towards a second expansion. The trademark was spotted on the US Patent and Trademark Office and was made by Bethesda, so this is as official as it gets.
If you don’t know what Starborn refers to, you likely haven’t finished the game yet and might want to skip this bit. This is your spoiler alert for the ending of Starfield. The Starborn are a group of beings that show up at the end of the game once you’re done collecting artifacts. These are people who have traveled through universes using portals.
Starfield will soon get its first major story expansion called Shattered Space in 2024. According to Todd Howard, the scale of the DLC is akin to the Far Harbor expansion for Fallout 4. He also said that the plan is to release expansions on the scale of Shattered Space on a yearly basis for Starfield.
When the game launched, fans were a little let down when it comes to the scale of Starfield and how the narrative wasn’t as engaging and straightforward when compared to other Bethesda titles. Shattered Space is very exciting for that reason because it will include changes that fans were hoping for when the game launched. And now, Starborn, if and when it actually becomes a reality, will be another step in the right direction. If a game like No Man’s Sky can make the comeback it did, Bethesda and Starfield can do so even better.
Starfield is available exclusively on Xbox Series S|X and PC. For anyone who is subscribed to Xbox Game Pass, you can access the game for free right now..
