In the fight between good and evil, there is UC SysDef and the Crimson Fleet. You come across them the first time you get arrested and must complete a task for UC SysDef, which is the first time you’re really prompted with the decision to go either go against them or go undercover within the Crimson Fleet. Considering that, we have outlined whether you should side with the UC SysDef or the Crimson Fleet in Starfield.

To put it plainly, being a part of the Crimson Fleet won’t bode well with your companions, but you’ll get access to several rewards, including The Key and 250,000 credits. Siding with UC SysDef is a better decision with the opinions of your companions, and you will end up with the Vigilance and 250,000 credits also. If you’re looking plainly at which one will be the best for you in the long run and aren’t too worried about the moral implications, then in the battle between UC SysDef and the Crimson Fleet, you’re going to want to side with the Crimson Fleet.

This is because, in doing so, you aren’t limited to what is available to you afterward. Siding with UC SysDef will mean that The Key will become a hostile territory, and anyone within the Fleet will become aggravated towards you. If you side with the Crimson Fleet, your companions will be angry, but you will have access to both The Key and any other things that UC SysDef has access to or control of.

This means that any contraband missions you need to run there, or any smuggling missions you will need to do will be much harder if The Key becomes hostile territory. These missions hold a high worth meaning that having easier access to them makes it so that you can make more credits faster than ever.

If you would feel better siding with the game’s police force, then do so by all means. However, if you’re looking to be able to make even more credits by doing easier missions, then you might want to reconsider your position and join the Crimson Fleet. It’s a decent choice and you’ll be able to back it up with a whole bunch of credits under your belt.
