Co-creator and star actor in “Only Murders in the Building” Steve Martin may retire soon. He hinted that after the American mystery-comedy series, he’s likely to call it quits in the acting scene. However, his wife begs to differ.
Steve Martin Hints At Retiring From Acting Soon
Steve Martin, an Emmy-winning actor, has revealed that he may retire from acting once his current series is done. The star, in an interview, stated that he won’t seek other roles after “Only Murders in the Building.”
The Hulu series also features Selena Gomez and Martin’s longtime friend, Martin Short. The three stars act as hilarious neighbors that host a murder-solving podcast in the Upper West Side apartment building located in NYC. Only Murders in the Building, currently airing its third season, is set for the third.
The first season of the show amassed 17 nominations at the yet-to-be-held 2022 Emmys. Martin had three for himself in different categories. The star actor was nominated for outstanding comedy series producer, outstanding lead actor in a comic series, and outstanding writing for a comedy series with John Hoffman, co-creator. His friend, Short, is also up for outstanding lead actor in a comedy series category.
This not being the first time Steve Martin has said that he may retire, but his wife doesn’t fully agree with him once again. He admitted that his darling wife, Anne Stringfield, doesn’t believe him anytime he says he’s going to retire. Anne pointed out that every time he says that he’s going to retire, he always comes up with something new.
His wife may be correct, as Steve Martin has been in the business for over 60 years, but he finds it hard to use the word retire. Steve Martin disclosed that he’s not quite interested in retiring. But he may just work significantly less.
