Fans of Stranger Things were pleasantly surprised this morning when Netflix released a teaser trailer for the next season. This teaser trailer revealed the official release date of October 27th, which is a little earlier than we were all expecting.
Prior to today’s trailer, Netflix had announced that the second season would premiere on Halloween. However, it is clearly obvious that they just meant around Halloween. Seeing as the 27th is the Friday before Halloween, it will be the perfect time to binge the much anticipated second season. Check out the new teaser trailer below!

The new trailer definitely doesn’t give much away, but it is just enough to get you excited for the new season. As it opens up, we see an almost empty road as four children – presumably Lucas, Sam, Dustin, and Mike- viciously pedal their bikes. The skies are cast with red and purple as lighting flashes in the distance. Obviously, the storm has come from the Upside Down and our young heroes are heading right towards it. When it comes to the second season, it has been promised by more than one member of the Stranger Things crew that this will be darker and scarier than the previous one.
October 27th is really shaping up to be an exciting day for all things gaming and nerd related. In the gaming realm, Super Mario Odyssey, Assassin’s Creed Origins, and Wolfenstein 2: The New Colossus are all set to release on that Friday. Aside from Stranger Things, a Cloverfield sequel is set to release along with Jigsaw, the next iteration of the Saw franchise. Polygon broke down the list of releases so you can easily prioritize them!
