A new teaser trailer officially reveals that the Netflix original, Stranger Things will be renewed for another season. The exceptionally short trailer was posted on Instagram by one of the show’s producers and directors, Shawn Levy, with the only caption being an upside-down happy face emoji.
The teaser shows the traditional Stranger Things intro with a four behind the title but the whole screen starts glitching, cutting off the ominous Stranger Things music cemented in our minds. The title is now inside the Upside Down, a parallel world in the show, and it gets consumed by weeds. The words “We’re not in Hawkins anymore” run across the screen.
It was obvious that Netflix was going to continue its flagship show but it’s nice to see it confirmed. For one Season 3 of Stranger Things saw 40.7 million viewers in less than a week, which broke Netflix records. Also, season 3‘s ending strategically set up a continuation for the show and had somewhat of a cliffhanger.
The teaser lacked a release date but it will probably be a while since season 3 released in July. The Stranger Things creators, The Duffer Brothers, signed a multi-year deal with Netflix to create a number of different shows or movies, according to a reliable source, who also provided some insight from Ted Sarandos the Chief Content Officer at Netflix
“The Duffer Brothers have captivated viewers around the world with Stranger Things and we’re thrilled to expand our relationship with them to bring their vivid imaginations to other film and series projects our members will love. We can’t wait to see what The Duffer Brothers have in store when they step outside the world of The Upside Down.”
