Last week, the team over at FireFly Studios was forced to delay Stronghold: Warlords to January 26 to polish up the title. That is generally a good thing, as having an experience akin to that of Cyberpunk 2077 isn’t ideal, to say the least. Despite that delay, it’s clear that the current state of Stronghold: Warlords isn’t to the quality the developers are comfortable with. Today, FireFly Studios has announced that they’ve delayed the highly anticipated colony simulator to March 9. If you’d like to read the full blog post from the team, you can do so here.
Through the said blog post, the team detailed that the reasoning is due to the current state of Stronghold: Warlords’ multiplayer mode:
We have run into some unexpected issues with it and – while we have worked very hard to resolve these with our current deadlines – we need more time to iron them out. We want to be as transparent as possible with you about this and we did consider releasing as planned, delaying Multiplayer to go live in a future update. However as we have promised Multiplayer functionality for Stronghold: Warlords at launch for over a year now, releasing without it wouldn’t be fair to players.”
At least, in my opinion, that’s the right call. Choosing to not release the title without a key feature would be devastating to the initial reception, and thus their profits would be heavily quelled. It’s better to wait, refine things as necessary, and then release the game when its key features are ready. For those of you who were excited though, today’s news isn’t all bad. Today, the Stronghold: Warlords team is happy to announce that a new demo is now available. You can play it through its official link.
