Goichi Suda, the CEO of Grasshopper Manufacture, and Shinji Mikami, best known for Resident Evil, The Evil Within, and other forms of evil, sat together on the studio’s yearly livestream and talked about bringing back Killer7 as either a remaster, and maybe even a sequel. Suda51 announced a few days ago that the Grasshopper Manufacture Direct would have some interesting reveals, and this was likely the biggest one.
Both creators mainly discussed the upcoming Shadow of the Damned: Hella Remastered and what the original was like in 2011. But once that was done, the discussion moved on to the future, and that’s when both of them mentioned the game they worked on together, Killer7.
The original came out in 2005 on the PlayStation 2 and Nintendo GameCube and is one of the most unique games to this day. Suda says that he wishes to make a Killer7 Complete Edition or a sequel. Mikami said that the most important thing is that Suda wants to make it.
Most importantly, Suda went on to say that once a Complete Edition of Killer7 is out in the wild, he’d like to work on Killer11, which is a name he may or may not have come up with on the spot. Discussing the name, the duo also said that Killer7: Beyond is also a possibility. He also said that the main character of the game was the silent type and didn’t say much, but he originally wanted the protagonist to have a lot of dialogue, this change could be made in the sequel, according to Suda.
After watching the Grasshopper Manufacture Direct, fans are extremely excited about the possibility of a Killer7 sequel and remaster on current-generation consoles. No More Heroes got a similar treatment and was fairly successful.
Grasshopper Manufacture only has one game in the pipeline for now, and that is Shadow of the Damned: Hella Remastered. The game is coming out in October of this year on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
