Super Mario Maker has seen a few bugs since its release, some of which have been patched. For example, the invincibility glitch. One of the latest unintended “features” is a process that will allow Yoshi to gobble down hard blocks–the ones that can only be broken with Bob-Ombs, giant Thwomps, or the Spiny hat. The trick for activating this maneuver is in the timing. First, a coin is placed below a hard block. Mario, riding on Yoshi, stands on solid ground to the side of the block and jumps in place. On the way down, have Yoshi’s tongue shoot out, and if the timing is correct, Yoshi should consume the block instead of the coin. That can’t be good for his health.

Other bugs include letting Mario run through ground, invisible platforms, an infinite coin glitch, and others. As for the invincibility glitch, there is no word on the fate of uploaded levels that require use of the glitch to complete them. Also, the invincibility glitch is the only one that is confirmed to have been patched, as the Yoshi bug in particular is still possible to activate.
Not that stone blocks are the strangest thing Yoshi has ever eaten. Those who have had the privelage of watching the Super Mario World Cartoon or playing Yoshi’s Island will know the green dino enjoys the occasional spicy fireball.
