Jordan Elsass Michael Bishop Superman & Lois

After the departure of Jordan Elsass, Superman & Lois found its new Jonathan Kent with Michael Bishop, Warner Bros. announced today. The replacement recently made his film debut with Disney Plus’ Spin.

What led Michael Bishop to land Superman & Lois to be the son of the superhero was when Jordan Elsass did not return to Vancouver as production as season 3 was about to begin. Warner Bros. cited it was due to “personal issues” for the actor, which was reportedly mental health related. There was also the possibility that his COVID-19 vaccine status became an issue, too, as he did not get vaccinated, which is a requirement to enter Canada. The various reasons make it uncertain if he departed on his own or was fired.

Michael Bishop replaced Jordan Elsass in Superman & Lois

Before landing the Superman & Lois gig, Michael Bishop had starred in various Australian projects. He was in the series Grace Beside Me, the film Swinging Safari, and short films Shelter, Skin Like Bark, Detention, Pet Rock, Hunter and Gatherer, and Indiana. He starred in his first big American project with Spin, which premiered last summer.

Michael Bishop will be jumping into Superman & Lois with Tyler Hoechlin (Teen Wolf) as the Man of Steel and Elizabeth Tullock (Grimm) as his partner. Created by Arrowverse producers Greg Berlanti and Todd Helbing, the series follows the hero as he balances his life as a world-saving superhero and an everyday man with a job and family. Helbing and Berlanti serve as writers and executive producers. The Spin actor will also be joining Erik Valdez (Graceland), Inde Navarrette (13 Reasons Why), Wolé Parks (Yellowstone), Dylan Walsh (Nip/Tuck), and Emmanuelle Chriqui (Murder in the First).

There is no date for the return of the CW series for its third season. You can catch up on it on the CW app.
