The CW has renewed Superman & Lois for season four. Deadline reports that the show has been renewed for a 10-episode fourth season after months of negotiations. The show will be the last remaining DC series on The CW following the recent end of The Flash after nine seasons and the cancelation of Gotham Knights. However, this may not last long. Before the current season premiered, DC said that Superman & Lois only had one or two seasons left. If that’s still the case, the future of Superman & Lois beyond season four remains unclear. Could the Arrowverse as we know it be coming to an end?
Superman & Lois Renewed for the Fourth Season. What Does the Future Hold?
Perhaps not. It’s not too surprising that Superman & Lois was renewed. Despite the show’s uncertain future, the ratings for the current season are on the rise. The show has some hardships, particularly the recasting of Jon Kent after Jordan Elsass left the show last year. This could be good news for the series, as The CW seems interested in keeping one DC show. And since Gotham Knights has been canceled after one season, Superman & Lois may have to be that last show.
Superman & Lois was one of the more acclaimed shows from the Arrowverse when it premiered on The CW in 2021. Strong performances, high production value, and powerful family dynamics have drawn in a big fanbase for the show. So much so that there was a strong possibility of it finding new life elsewhere had it not been renewed. That fan base is keeping the show alive on The CW, at least for now. Anyone’s guess is whether that can get it past a run of only four seasons.
Regardless, fans of the show have at least one more season to look forward to. The current season has two more episodes left, both of which will air this month.
