Want a game where you can build your own game? SuperMash is the answer. Initially released for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One, it is now headed on Steam this January 13, 2021. Play as a video game store clerk who found a magical console. And this is where your mashing game adventure begins.

SuperMash

SuperMash is a hit game-making game where you can mash two video game genres, known as “Mashes.” This will give you endless unexpected genre hybrids. Players can mash a platformer genre to a JRPG and create a brand new game. But each new game creation will also create “glitches.” Just like game developers, these glitches give an unpredictable hurdle that you have to face and conquer.

There are a total of six unique 2D games that you can mix and match:

  • Metroidvania
  • Shoot ’em Up
  • Stealth
  • Platformer
  • JRPG
  • Action Adventure

You can combine these games with themselves or one of the other genres. By putting an in-game “Dev Cards” in your mash, you can pick and choose specific characters, enemies, worlds, and more.

In SuperMash, aside from mashing games, you get to run a video game shop filled with retro-hybrids of player-created games. The great thing is you can also share your creations with your friends around the world by sharing a unique code generated for each mash.

SuperMash is available on Steam for $19.99 with a launch discount of 10%. SuperMash Deluxe Edition, on the other hand, will have a discount of 25%.

If you’re thinking of getting the game, don’t forget to check our SuperMash review. We commended it for having a unique idea by mashing game genres. We also enjoyed our first mash of RPG and Shoot-em-up, where we played as an old man equipped with a dagger.

Are you excited for the SuperMash on Steam release? What type of genre would you smash together? Let me know in the comments below!
