Taylor Swift‘s fans have been intensely debating the use of the word “hourglass” to describe the pop star’s figure. The 34-year-old singer is largely making 2024 headlines for her relationship with athlete Travis Kelce, but it was another man she was photographed with in this photo.
In a throwback featuring ex-boyfriend Joe Alwyn, Taylor sizzled in a skimpy two-piece as she and Joe enjoyed a beach stroll. While many remarked on the now-ended relationship, others had their eyes drawn to the “Blank Space” hitmaker’s silhouette. Clearly, some were on the fence about the blonde being told she’s an “hourglass.”
Taylor Swift Beach Snap Sparks Storm On Instagram
Looking happy and relaxed as she held Joe’s hand, Taylor showed off her long legs and toned tummy in a nautical, blue-and-white-striped bikini. Going for a slightly retro style, the Grammy winner also flashed her curves as she soaked up the shorefront rays, completing her look via a pair of dark shades.
Holding a beverage as she spent quality time with 33-year-old Joe, Taylor went makeup-free with her blonde locks swept back into a simple ponytail, also smiling a little as she flaunted her fit physique. A second photo showed the star grinning even more as she and a shirtless Joe enjoyed their chat.
Fans Unsure About ‘Hourglass’ Figure
The photo marked Tay-Tay and Joe’s Turks and Caicos vacation. Gaining over 1,000 likes, a fan replied: “Her hourglass figure is sooo pretty.”
“Hourglass????” another said, adding in cry-face laughing emoji. Also appearing to disagree was a user stating: “She does not have an hourglass figure. I am not body shaming before anyone comes for me. She has a rectangular body type.”
“She is NOT an hourglass. Marilyn Monroe was an hourglass and so is Sofia Lauren. Taylor has a gorgeous body, but she is a tall and slender girl not an hourglass at all. Her hips are not wide enough to be an hourglass,” a further fan said. Also chiming in was a user who replied that Taylor was “still” being “fat-shamed.”
In January 2020, Swift had opened up about suffering from an eating disorder. In her Miss Americana documentary, the Reputation hitmaker noted the times that she’s seen “a picture of me where I feel like I looked like my tummy was too big, or… someone said that I looked pregnant … and that’ll just trigger me to just starve a little bit — just stop eating.”
Also known for having opened up about their eating disorder battles are stars including fellow singer Demi Lovato and actress Portia de Rossi.
