Caitlin Clark and Taylor Swift have something in common. As you might remember, Taylor was previously named Time‘s Person of The Year. Now, it’s Clark’s turn.
On Tuesday, December 10th, the WNBA superstar was named Time‘s Athlete of The Year. In a profile detailing the whirlwind year she’s had, the Indiana Fever star told the publication all about her relationship with Swift. In fact, she revealed that when she went to see Taylor during “back to back” nights of the show, the Swifties accepted her like she was family.
During her interview, Caitlin, who was one of the highest-paid female athletes of 2024, said everyone was “going crazy” that she was at the Eras Tour. “I thought people would be so in their own world, ready to see Taylor. And it was just completely the opposite,” Clark explained. But it doesn’t stop there. According to the basketball queen, Taylor noticed her presence, too, and showered her with love. So, what did she have to say to the 22-year-old sensation?
Taylor Swift Wants To Watch NFL With Caitlin Clark
In her interview with Time, Caitlin Clark revealed that Taylor Swift sent her “four bags” of tour merch after noticing the baller at her show. In one of the bags, Taylor left a note for Clark, saying “Trav and I” were hoping to catch a WNBA game during the upcoming season. She went further, saying the “Fortnight” singer invited her to a Kansas City Chiefs game to watch her boyfriend, Travis Kelce, play with Patrick Mahomes.
Of course, Clark’s love for the Chiefs and Travis Kelce isn’t surprising. In April 2024, the Chiefs’ Instagram account gave Caitlin a special shoutout before entering the March Madness tournament.
“You cheered for us. Now, it’s our turn! All of Chiefs Kingdom is rooting for you,” they wrote.
Caitlin replied to the message with several flaming heart emojis. (South Carolina ultimately defeated the Iowa Hawkeyes in the championship game.)
What’s Next for Caitlin Clark?
Besides getting invites to hang out with Taylor Swift, Caitlin Clark has had a pretty stellar year. In addition to being the No. 1 pick in the 2024 WNBA draft, Clark has other accomplishments to celebrate. She became the NCAA’s all-time leading scorer (in men’s or women’s basketball). She also broke the Indiana Fever’s single-season assist record. And at the end of the season, she was named Rookie of the Year. The athlete won’t participate in Unrivaled — the upcoming 3×3 league that will see 30+ of her WNBA peers competing on TNT beginning in January. Instead, she’ll likely use that time to rest, train, and focus on improving that already incredible three-point shot.
Swift, on the other hand, also had an impressive year. But what’s new for the star? She just wrapped up her two-billion-dollar Eras Tour, all while releasing new music and visuals. The 34-year-old is still dating Travis, who is in the middle of another noteworthy football season. Their romance is still alive, and according to inside sources, they’re in it for the long run. We’ll be keeping an eye out on both of these queens when the new year rolls around.
