Taylor Swift has been one of the dominating forces in pop music for quite some time now. However, the Midnights singer is set to direct her first feature film. The announcement came recently that not only is Taylor Swift directing the film, but she also wrote the original screenplay. Searchlight Pictures is producing Taylor Swift’s upcoming movie.
Searchlight Pictures is also behind films such as Juno, Black Swan, Little Miss Sunshine, and The Shape Of Water, which means the company has some real hits. According to the company, more will be revealed about Taylor Swift’s new movie in the near future.
David Greenbaum and Matthew Greenfield, the presidents of Searchlight Pictures, had this to say about Taylor Swift:
Taylor is a once-in-a-generation artist and storyteller. It is a genuine joy and privilege to collaborate with her as she embarks on this exciting and new creative journey.
Though we don’t have much information about Taylor Swift’s upcoming movie, we’re excited that she’s beginning the process of directing. Based on the stories she tells in music, we’re sure her directorial debut will be a hit. In the meantime, Taylor Swift’s latest album, Midnights, is still ruling the charts. Of course, the Taylor Swift Ticketmaster situation is ongoing.
Taylor Swift Has Directed Before
Taylor Swift may be directing her first feature-length film, but this is not the first time the multi-talented star has sat in the director’s chair. She recently made history at the MTV VMA’s after becoming the first artist to pick up two wins for director. One for The Man from the Lover album, and the other for All Too Well: The Short Film. Besides the two VMAs for director, Taylor Swift is campaigning for an Oscar nomination for All Too Well: The Short Film.
Though it may be a while away, we’re looking forward to Taylor Swift’s movie. It’s always awesome to see an artist go from being in front of the camera to directing a film and telling a story in a new way.
