Taylor Swift has seemingly had a huge impact on Travis Kelce’s life since the couple began dating in late 2023. One of the biggest things that has changed in the Kansas City Chiefs tight end’s life has been his level of fame. While Kelce was a huge name in the sports world before romancing Swift, the singer’s global icon status has thrust the athlete into the spotlight like never before. However, Swift has changed Kelce’s life in more ways than one.
According to Kansas City coach Dave Merritt, his players revealed that Swift and Kelce’s relationship had an impact on the entire team. During an interview with The Sports Shop Podcast with Reese & K-Mac, the coach elaborated on the singer’s influence on the Super Bowl-winning team.
Taylor Swift Is Part of the Chiefs Family
“She actually affected the team in a positive way. It wasn’t a negative way. Everybody was excited and Travis was happy,” Merritt said. “So when my player, a brother, is happy beside me, that helps me and that encourages me and so Travis came in there a different man. So, she helped us.”
The coach went on to say that although Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce took a lot of heat for their highly-publicized relationship, the team never found it distracting. If anything, Merritt claims that the players felt protective of the singer and considered her part of the Chiefs family, per Page Six.
“There were so many people that were hating the fact that she was being shown on the TV that, you know what? You’re part of our family because you’re now with Travis,” he continued. “So, therefore, you’re our little sister…You’re part of our family.”
It looks like Taylor Swift has completely won over Travis Kelce’s teammates. Many fans are now hoping that she’ll continue to be a presence at Kansas City Chiefs games going forward.
