We finally have our first look at Stranger Things season three with this short teaser:

Coming Soon: The Starcourt Mall! | Hawkins, Indiana

As seen above, this teaser was a commercial for the new Starcourt Mall that is opening in Hawkins, Indiana.

While we don’t see most of our main characters in the teaser, surrogate babysitter Steve Harrington (Joe Keery) is briefly sighted. Steve is seen working with a new character named Robin at the Scoops Ahoy ice cream shop in the Starcourt Mall.

Stranger Things season three will supposedly take place in 1985, almost a full year after the events of season two. At the end of this trailer, it reveals that the Starcourt Mall is opening next Summer. This could be a hint at the release window for season three of the hit Netflix series.

In an interview with Deadline, executive producer Shawn Levy and star David Harbour discussed where season three would go next. David Harbour, who plays Jim Hopper, talked about how season three will be inspired by some of the amazing films that released in 1985:

“If you’re a real fan of Stranger Things and you really want to know, I would go look at the great films that were released in ’85, of which there were many, and just go down that list and think of the possibilities that we could be going with. I think it is a specific season to 1985, and so you’ll see references to that.”

Harbour also elaborated on his character over the years and where Hopper would be going next:

“We had a little softer season with Jim in Season 2, where he was really working off these fatherly instincts and understanding a responsibility that was larger than himself, and I think one of the things that we missed from Season 1 was this guy who goes into government facilities and punches people in the face. He’s not a doofus, but he’s a bit of a Columbo character.”

”It’s like you have this third character now, who goes back to the swashbuckling guy of Season 1, but also has behind him this adopted daughter who he loves very much, so it’s really cool.”
