Real Housewives of Beverly Hills alum Teddi Mellencamp will be having another surgery related to her melanoma. For over a year, Mellencamp has kept fans up to date on her health journey after being diagnosed with multiple melanoma diagnoses. Now, the reality star shares how the latest developments have led her to this decision.
Teddi Opened Up About the Latest In Another Instagram Update
Teddi Mellencamp revealed on Instagram on Dec. 19 that the immunotherapy treatment was not successful and her team was now exploring other options.
“I had a wide excision removal on my most recent melanoma last week to see if it did and sadly it did not,” she said.
“I have been presented with a couple new options and I have decided with my doctors that the best next course of action is have surgery on December 26th to remove a larger portion of problematic area.”
Mellencamp admitted, “I don’t like going under and my anxiety is popping off but I have faith all will be ok and that the reason this is happening to me is because I am able to raise awareness.”
The goal is for Mellencamp’s margins to clear, which would be followed up by monitoring the area regularly.
“In the meantime, I am so looking forward to spending Christmas with my loved ones and hope this is a reminder to book your skin checks for the new year ❤️. #skincancerawareness,” she concluded.
Mellecamp First Shared That She Was Undergoing Immunotherapy in September
Mellencamp explained she wanted to be “fully transparent and help others.”
“I received the call yesterday from my doctor that not all the margins are clear after my last wide excision surgery. Because the area is so broad they no longer feel comfortable cutting.”
She went on to explain she’d “start on a 5-week immunotherapy cream.” She explained the treatment would “attack cancer cells” and “stimulate the immune system.”
“Side effects include: fatigue, inflammation, blisters and some pain but ya know what, it’s better than the alternative,” she added.
“Stay vigilant on getting your skin checked my friends. We can fight this. 💕 @curemelanoma #skincancerawareness #melanomaawareness.”
