“You are not alone, Amber” seems to be the message from the Teen Mom cast to their co-star Amber Portwood following her custody loss. Recently, Amber lost custody of her son, James, 4, to her ex Andrew Glennon. Such a situation was obviously devastating to Amber, but her co-stars were on hand to offer their support.
Teen Mom Stars’ Message To Amber
After Amber lost custody of her son, many of her Teen Mom co-stars shared messages of support. For example, Leah Messer, who recently got engaged to Jaylan Mobley, told Page Six:
“Amber is a very strong woman that doesn’t give up easily and she never will. I’ve reached out to her just to support her. She’s going to be okay.”
Meanwhile, Briana DeJesus expressed love for Amber and confirmed she would be okay. She added:
“It’s a tough time right now. But if she continues to stay strong and keep her head held high, she will be able to conquer anything in life.”
In addition to Briana and Leah, another of Amber’s Teen Mom cast members, Cheyenne Floyd, also spoke about the matter. Cheyenne said she and her co-stars had reached out to Amber. She also said that they are trying to show their support in different ways as best as they can. Cheyenne added:
“Amber is a strong woman and she is just going to have to make new adjustments to new circumstances. She’s going to be great, she’ll be fine.”
Amber and Andrew’s Custody Battle
In July, an Indiana judge granted the 38-year-old Andrew physical and legal custody of his and Amber’s son, James. Meanwhile, Amber got three monthly overnight visits with her son, though Andrew plans to relocate James to California.
Amber and Andrew started dating in 2017 and welcomed James a year after their relationship began. However, they split in 2019 after Amber was arrested for allegedly attacking Andrew with a machete.
Amber pleaded guilty to the charges against her after the incident, including domestic battery committed in the presence of a child less than 16 years old. Afterward, the reality TV star, who has since been diagnosed with bipolar and borderline personality disorder, among other mental illnesses, was sentenced to probation. She also had to attend parenting classes as part of her sentencing.
After Amber lost custody of her son, she vowed to challenge the ruling. However, she also remains positive despite the setback. Hopefully, her Teen Mom cast members’ support and her strong resolve will help her push through this difficult phase.
