Amber Portwood shares her side of what happened before her fiancé’s disappearance. On Monday, the Teen Mom star reported that fiancé Gary Wayt was missing in North Carolina. It was initially reported the two had an “explosive fight” ahead, after which Gary drove away without his phone.
The reality star appeared on a livestream with YouTuber Elle Bee to set the record straight as she appealed to the public for help.
When asked about the situation that preceded Gary’s disappearance, Amber said, “There was no explosive argument.” She pleaded that she had “changed” from her past and was being “honest” about her account of the situation.
We have not had explosive fights. We are very in love. This man asked me to be with him. This man asked me to marry him. I have not touched this man in any horrible way. He does not touch me in any horrible way. We do not yell at each other. We have a wonderful relationship, please understand this. People change.

Amber’s Says Their Final Conversation Was “Emotional”
Amber Portwood hinted at them discussing some complex issues, including cultural matters, in the conversation before Gary’s departure.
It was emotional, because it has something to do with the fact of his parents being Vietnamese, and me being who I am and stuff like that. It had nothing to do with us personally. This is the only thing that happened. He was very upset about this, I was upset.

Teen Mom stars were formally introduced to Gary as Amber’s new love in the season premiere of the reality series’ latest installment, Teen Mom: The Next Chapter. The announcement didn’t thrill Amber’s 15-year-old daughter, Leah, to the star’s dismay. Shortly after the polarizing episode, Amber and Gary’s engagement news became public.

Though Amber’s past issues with both substance abuse and physical abuse in a relationship have been brought up by fans, there is no indication she is involved beyond being a concerned partner.
