The new season of Teen Mom: Next Chapter is almost here, complete with a surprise “special guest.” Jenelle Evans, who hasn’t filmed with MTV since a horrific 2019 domestic incident, is back with the franchise. Jenelle’s return comes amid her divorce from David Eason, who was a contributing factor to her departure.
Jenelle Appears In The New Season’s Trailer
The trailer for the latest season features moments from the whole cast — Catelynn Lowell Baltierra, Maci Bookout McKinney, Leah Messer, Amber Portwood, Ashley Jones Siren, Briana Dejesus, Cheyenne Floyd Davis, Jade Cline, and new addition Mackenzie McKee Taylor.
At the end of the teaser, Jenelle Evans appears on screen and simply says, “I think it’ll be good to have a fresh start.”
“Yayyyy, I can finally say yes… I’m back!” Jenelle wrote, sharing the clip on her Instagram Story.
The Mom Of Three’s Return Is A Turning Point
Jenelle Evans was first introduced to MTV audiences in 2010 on 16 & Pregnant. Later, she joined the cast of Teen Mom 2, filming with the franchise until 2019. Then-husband David Eason, who had been fired from the network for hate speech, was under fire for shooting and killing their family dog.
In February, however, Jenelle filed for divorce from David after six year of marriages. Seemingly, this opened up the door for her return to the reality series. While Jenelle’s return is currently being billed as a “special appearance” by MTV, many fans believe she’ll be back as a mainstay as long as she doesn’t get back together with her ex.
The contentious split is in process, as far as legal matters are concerned, but the two still have to figure out how to co-parent daughter Ensley. Jenelle has previously said that is not currently happening, though David denies it.
The Cast Has Mixed Feelings About Jenelle’s Return
Jenelle Evans’ return to the franchise was discussed by The Ashley, who says that sources close to the show report mixed feelings about the move.
Only a few cast members were aware of what was happening until that photo came out. Some of the girls are very upset that Jenelle is getting to be on Next Chapter, despite everything that’s happened. Some of the girls probably saw it coming, though. They knew when Jenelle dumped David that MTV would come calling. But I think most of them assumed [Jenelle] would be put on Teen Mom: Family Reunion and not Next Chapter. To have her go right to [Next Chapter] is kind of a slap in the face to some of the other girls.
