Our favorite ninja humanoid turtles are coming back. Paramount has announced that Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem will receive a sequel. The follow-up to the hit 2023 animated movie is slated to hit theaters on October 9, 2026.
In the first film, the turtles went through New York City having fun as ninjas and living the life of a teenage turtle. Things got shaken up, and they must take their job seriously as a mutant army threatens the city. It starred Micah Abbey (Donatello), Shamon Brown Jr. (Michelangelo), Brady Noon (Raphael), and Nicolas Cantu (Leonardo). Alongside the heroes were Ayo Edebiri, Maya Rudolph, Seth Rogan, John Cena, Rose Byrne, Giancarlo Esposito, Jackie Chan, Paul Rudd, and more A-listers.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Will Return to the Big Screen in a Bold, Familiar Way
The plot is currently under wraps, and who will return for the film is currently unknown. It is not confirmed if the creatives behind the film, directors Jeff Rowe and Kyler Spears, or writers Seth Rogan, Evan Goldberg, and Rowe, will return.
During its latest earnings call, Paramount set dates for a whole slate of movies for 2025/2026 (via Variety), including the untitled Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem sequel. The films include the musical Better Man (Christmas 2024, then a wider release on January 17, 2025); Novocaine, starring Jack Quaid and Amber Midthunder (March 14, 2025); Vicious, a horror film with Dakota Fanning (August 8, 2025); Liam Neeson’s Naked Gun reboot (July 18, 2025); and Paw Patrol 3 (July 31, 2026).
The summer was crowded with hard-hitting animated movies. Despite competition from Paw Patrol: The Mighty Movie and Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse through the season, it grossed $180 million. While modest earnings, the enthusiasm from critics and audiences gained enough attention for executives to greenlight the next film.
