During Sony’s press conference at Paris Games Week today Tekken producer Katsuhiro Harada took the stage to announce that Tekken 7 would be heading to home consoles. As of yet we have not nailed down a specific launch date; however, the release was pegged as following the arcade launch here in the US. Harada did make mention of exclusive content that will be present on the PS4, too. As the announcement came during Sony’s press conference, no announcement was made as to other platforms, but we can expect it to release on Xbox One and PC as well.

Tekken 7 has been in Japanese arcades for the majority of the year and those that have played it have said that it was a welcome change of pace for the series and that it is very responsive. Of course, these reviews were based on the arcade version of the game. The console version(s) should perform even better because of the increased power and capabilities that the newest generation of consoles provides. Additionally, Bandai Namco has stated that the console version of Tekken 7 will introduce “numerous modes and enhancements beyond its arcade counterpart, including an in-depth story mode that lets players fully experience the canon storyline.” The arcade version was lauded for its addition of two new features, Rage Arts, special attacks unique to each character that are similar to Street Fighter‘s Super Moves, and Power Crushers, special moves that are unstoppable even though you still take damage from attacks received.

Justin cut his teeth on Pitfall! and Yars' Revenge way back on the Atari 2600. Since, he has followed the generations through to the present. Now, you can most often find him on his PS4, but he is occasionally spotted on the Xbox One as well; he's kind of like the Sasquatch of Xbox One. Follow him on Facebook, he's incredibly boring!
