These days, Homeland Security is controversial enough by reputation alone, but one particular kindergarten teacher in Tennessee allegedly received the short end of the stick because of a mistake. This woman’s friend, who goes by Gala_Apples1 on Reddit, posted the teacher’s situation on r/legal. What happened was that Homeland Security had reportedly broken into her apartment, smashing down the door to get inside. They did this while no one was home, so when they left, robbers entered and ransacked the place.

According to Gala_Apples1, Homeland Security had broken into her friend’s home in search of someone whose last known address was that apartment number. These men were enforcers, not renovators, so they didn’t bother repairing the front door after realizing their mistake. “They completely busted the door down, and when they left, people went in and stole all her stuff,” Gala_Apples1 explained. Now, Gala_Apples1 is looking to help her friend find legal recourse for what happened.

Several Redditors found OP’s story rather questionable, claiming the behavior of those breaking into the home wasn’t like that of Homeland Security. To this, Gala_Apples1 responded, “It’s definitely a police agency of some sort like I said the apartment maintenance manager took a video of the raid, which she showed me on her phone.” She shared a video of the scene, confirming that the police told her friend that Homeland Security had raided her house.

That said, these people who did the raid definitely should have exercised some diligence in securing the apartment before leaving, one commenter points out. On the flip side, they argue that the authorities also cannot be held responsible for criminals taking advantage of what happened. Several other Redditors comment that OP’s friend should be covered under insurance for some of the items that were stolen.

“She doesn’t have insurance, she definitely is not the best with money and is low income,” Gala_Apples1 wrote in response, leaving multiple commenters in disbelief. Many were skeptical of OP’s story, while plenty of others were certain the police could help if they got involved. However, Gala_Apples1 already noted that the Tennessee police were the ones who revealed to the Tennessee kindergarten teacher that Homeland Security was involved.

Without rental insurance in her name and little help from the police, things are looking rather dim, according to this teacher’s friend. Gala_Apples1 hasn’t left any additional updates on what became of her friend besides resharing the same video recording of the police at her friend’s home.
