A motel with no staff or tenants sounds like a suspiciously eerie place to spend the night, yet that’s exactly where one Tennessee man ended up staying. Going by the Reddit username NumerousPath9669, the tenant posted quite the chilling photo on r/Weird, claiming that he was the “only person staying in this motel with no staff on premises.” The post went viral, with tens of thousands of online users both concerned and thrilled over what sort of motel it could be.
“Congratulations! The whole property is now yours! Finders keepers,” exclaimed a Redditor, with thousands upvoting in agreement. Many wondered how NumerousPath9669 was even able to check in, considering no one was there to give him a key. He answered multiple times in the comments that he was sent a code for a lockbox via email, where his room key had been stored.
“The room is clean and looks remodeled.. but I am myself puzzled on why there is no overnight staff..” he wrote, rather worried why the motel was so desolate. One person joked that OP might be dead and haunting the place. “I am eating smoked beef jerky and watching two and a half men.. feeling pretty alive lol,” he replied.
Countless Commenters Believed the Motel Wasn’t a Safe Place to Stay the Night
Other people still couldn’t believe that NumerousPath9669 would still choose to stay after realizing no one was present on the property except for him. “This is how Horror movies start,” remarked a commenter. “That wouldn’t feel safe to me, you’re a brave soul,” commended another. “I’ve seen supernatural enough to know some monster or demon is stalking that place,” chimed in a third.
Some people implored OP to check a crime map of the area to know whether or not the motel is actually a safe place, scary vibes aside. He responded, saying, “I rather remain ignorant in case it’s bad.”
Luckily, in the end, NumerousPath9669 survived the night and made sure to update everyone who tuned into his r/Weird post, writing, “Thanks to all the people who were genuinely concerned about my well-being. The night was pretty uneventful. I had a good night sleep and now off to exploring the nature around.” All’s well that ends well, it would seem.
