A woman in Tennessee said she got another gym member banned after the girl allegedly filmed her boyfriend while he was working out.
The woman shared a video explaining that she came across a TikTok posted by a girl who had been filmed at the same gym she attends. The video’s caption read, “Just go find your man at the gym.” According to the woman, the TikTok featured about 13 men who were filmed from a distance while working out, and she alleged they were filmed without their knowledge or consent.
After describing the video, the woman revealed that one of the men shown was her boyfriend. “One of those men just happened to be my boyfriend,” she said. She then explained how she responded after seeing the post. “Well, guess what? I’m crazy and I have power,” she said. According to the woman, she reported the incident to the gym, and the result was that the girl’s membership was canceled and she was banned from all of the gym’s locations.
The woman said she believed the other gym member’s actions were inappropriate. She argued that the same standards should apply regardless of gender. “My thing is, why would we be holding men accountable as women for being creeps but then not follow the exact same thing?” she asked. She added that if she had been in the girl’s position, she would have considered that some of the men might have girlfriends. According to her, the most reasonable assumption would be that they did not want to be filmed by a stranger while working out in what she described as their safe space.
“I don’t play that. We’re not gonna showcase my boyfriend like that,” she said. She then addressed the girl directly in case she saw the video. “Now look at you. Gymless. Now you gotta go find a whole new gym. Gotta pay new gym membership fees. What a shame,” she said before ending the video. In a later comment, the woman added that her boyfriend was even more upset than she was after learning he had allegedly been filmed without his consent.
