A Texas man says he’ll keep posting on TikTok every day until DoorDash fully refunds him after what he describes as two failed deliveries left him without his food and out nearly $30. The ordeal, which he documented online, has sparked widespread criticism from viewers who shared similar experiences with the delivery service.
Mario said this wasn’t the first time he’d experienced problems with DoorDash deliveries. In his TikTok, Mario said he placed an order through DoorDash, paid for Express Delivery, and left a tip. After waiting nearly two hours, the order was suddenly canceled.
After waiting for so long, Mario’s order was finally updated. Unfortunately, it was canceled by the DoorDasher. So Mario tried again with a new driver, who did get to the restaurant only to find out they couldn’t pick up his order. Relayed through the DoorDash driver, Mario learns that the restaurant has already given his order to the first driver. Mario believes the first driver took the food before canceling the delivery.
DoorDash refunded the first order, allowing Mario to place the same order again. The second driver successfully picked up the order and headed toward Mario’s apartment. According to Mario, she stopped at the wrong end of the complex, couldn’t find him, and eventually drove away after saying her GPS had taken her to the wrong location.
Before leaving, Mario said the driver told him, “I’m canceling your order. You can contact DoorDash.” However, the order was later marked as completed rather than canceled, leaving him with only a partial refund of about $6 on an order that cost nearly $30.
Mario managed to contact customer service, but was allegedly told, “There’s nothing we can do about it.” His entire refund was denied. How can DoorDash let two different DoorDashers “steal his food” and not return his money, he asks his audience.
Viewers React with Outrage, Dunk on DoorDash’s Service
Not only did numerous commenters have their own bad experience with DoorDash, but they also swore UberEats was a better service. Others shared that the service has been so bad, they canceled their subscriptions.
“This is why I go to pick up my food myself, cheaper and less stressful,” a TikTok viewer wrote, garnering a few hundred Likes.
One commenter argued it was about tipping culture. “This is proof tipping doesn’t matter,” they wrote. In the thread, another pushed back, saying it “has nothing to do with tipping. Those are thieves!!!” To avoid this, people suggested tipping after they got their order, not before.
Another viewer offered a possible reason for the long wait times. “Door Dash is allowing Dashers to pick up too many orders…” and shared they were one of seven orders the Dasher was delivering.
In an update video, it appears Mario was able to reach DoorDash after calling them out. Even though he spoke with representatives, they continued telling him there was “nothing they could do about it.” He’s still awaiting answers about why this happened to him and whether he’ll see his money.
