With recent events in the country regarding masked ICE agents, people started predicting that some individuals will now wear masks and pretend to be cops. This started to happen. A Texas police impersonator ambushed a couple who own a liquor store. Javier Reyes was taking out the trash when a red car pulled up near him. A man in a tactical vest with the word marshal on it came up to him. He had a mask on and was pointing a gun and a flashlight at Reyes. The police impersonator kept claiming that he was a cop and then forced Reyes to the ground.
Once the victim was on the ground, the Texas police impersonator revealed his true identity as he said, “It’s a robbery. I’m not the police.” When he asks for Reyes’ valuables and Reyes refuses, the guy puts the gun to his head and says that he can kill him right now. Fortunately, Reyes’ wife was still inside the store witnessing what was happening. She quickly runs to bring a gun and then goes outside. Once the thief sees her, he starts running like a coward, which makes him lose his shoes and his gun at the same time. When he tried to take them from the ground, Reyes stood up and pulled his own gun. He then proceeded to shoot at the guy with at least one shot landing.
The criminal then started crawling towards the car where an accomplice was waiting for him. He later turned up at a hospital; police are still investigating the situation. Thankfully, no charges were pressed against Reyes and his wife since they were the victims. The real police even told Reyes that he did a good job.
People Reacting to the Texas Police Impersonator
A lot of people admired how Reyes and his wife handled the situation. Several also mocked the Texas police impersonator for the way he crawled away. Someone commented on this by saying, “He literally turned into a worm.” Another person joked and said, “Those shoes were clearly not the right size.” Others believed that the thief deserved what he got. “No badge get shot. Justice,” someone wrote. Because some people believe such a situation happened because of ICE, someone had to bring them into the conversation. When one person wrote, “This must be the find out part,” another replied by saying, “Not until it is actually ICE getting iced.”
Aside from the mocking and the ICE part, some Redditors managed to find a romantic side in the situation. Since Reyes’ wife didn’t hesitate to help her husband, people praised the Texas couple. At the end of the video, Reyes’ wife was holding him from behind while he was shooting at the police impersonator. This made someone write, “That was a real Jack and Rose Titanic moment at the end.” I can see it actually. Another person wrote, “In America, this is considered a heartwarming story.” I will be waiting for a Netflix film. One more romantic comment came when someone said, “His wife didn’t even think twice immediately went out and probably saved her husband’s life!” My favorite comment, though, has to be the one where a Redditor wrote, “F trump for unleashing this.” I mean, if ICE weren’t allowed to make arrests while concealing their identities, this probably wouldn’t have happened.
