The Bachelor fans have reacted to the eviction of Jess Girod from the show. The previous episode of The Bachelor season 27 saw the girls’ trip to London ruined by Zach testing positive for COVID-19. The episode also saw Mercedes Northup’s eviction from the show despite not getting a one-on-one date with Zach, which she got emotional about.
Those same issues were brought up again in this week’s episode of the show — as the group traveled to Estonia. Jess Girod expressed her hurt at not being selected for a one-on-one date with Zach Shallcross. This came after he shared a kiss with Kat Izzo ahead of his one-on-one date with Charity Lawson. That made Jess and Greer the only women without a solo date with Zach. The reality of her situation was a bit too hard for her to swallow, and she questioned her place on the show. She said:
“Does being the last one say something? I don’t want to be chosen as, like, the last person.”
Sadly, she didn’t stick around much longer to get any answers as she exited the show during the latest episode. After Jess told the other women she had an anxiety attack ahead of the group after-party, she finally got to iron things out with Zach when he pulled her aside for a chat. Jess Girod didn’t waste time voicing her concerns over her lack of solo time with Zach. A little debate ensued between the two, making it clear to both parties that they were not on the same page. The conversation ended with both parties crying and Jess deciding to leave the show.
Fans Feel Jess Self-Evicted
Toward the end of the exchange between Jess and Zach, it seemed like he was about to pull the trigger on her time on the show. However, he dilly-dallied on it a bit, and Jess took the initiative when she said:
“I told you from the start that I’m not gonna fight for someone … I’m not gonna beg you.”
The two then walked out together in tears. Surprisingly, the scene has led to some debate amongst The Bachelor fans on whether Zach sent Jess home or she self-eliminated. While commenting on a thread on Reddit, most of the users argued that Jess was the one who sent herself home. One of the comments read:
“Jess sent herself home, but the whole “I won’t fight for you” when she chose to go on a show where the whole premise is competing with other people for the lead just seemed bonkers.”
Another user agreed:
“To me, it seemed like she was getting ready to send herself home and Zach just agreed with it.”
Some other users slammed Zach for showing a lack of empathy toward Jess’ feelings. They admitted there was not much Zach could do about her complaints but felt he was wrong for dismissing her point of view so quickly.
Fans Think Zach Didn’t Feel A Connection With Jess
Meanwhile, another group of The Bachelor fans jumped to the defense of Zach and pointed out that he was not wrong for letting Jess go home. They argued that the connection wasn’t there between them, and he had grown tired of reassuring her about her place on the show. Some other Redditors didn’t seem to understand why some fans were making a fuzz about Jess getting sent home. They hammered on the fact that it was a part of the show, and there was nothing wrong with sending her home if he didn’t see a future with her. One particular user summed up the reactions by saying:
“Totally agree. Like, let him send people home. He’s not lacking empathy for them. It’s not empathetic to feed girls lies if he knows they aren’t the one.”
The Bachelor season 27 has reached the business end, and Zach will face many more difficult decisions. The best fans can do is to cut Zach a bit of slack as he continues his journey to find the love of his life.
