One of last year’s biggest horror movies has brought back its main cast. The Black Phone 2 will call back its main cast to return, including Ethan Hawke as the serial killer The Grabber. Other cast members include Mason Thames (How to Train Your Dragon), Madeleine McGraw (Toy Story 4), Jeremy Davies (Justified), and Miguel Mora, who returns for his second role after making his acting debut with the first film.
When the sequel was announced, it was revealed that it would bring back its creative team with director and co-writer Scott Derrickson and co-writer C. Robert Cargill. The two have worked together on multiple projects, including Doctor Strange and Sinister. The short story’s author, Joe Hill, is returning to executive produce.

The short story and film adaptation followed a teenager kidnapped by a serial killer named The Grabber. He is alone in a room with a disconnected black phone. When it rings, he answers to talk to the other victims who help him escape. The film expanded the story with an additional act and characters. It is unknown how The Black Phone 2 will expand the story with its returning cast members.
2022 was a stellar year for horror, both commercially and critically. The Black Phone was one of the highest-grossing films in the genre in the year after grossing $161 million. It was behind Smile ($217 million) and Nope ($172 million). The returning collaboration of Derrickson and Cargill was ahead of Scream ($138 million) and Halloween Ends ($105 million).
What The Black Phone 2 has in store for its cast will be seen in theaters when it is released on July 27, 2025.
