Fans of the supernatural and eerie can rejoice, as we finally have more information about the upcoming Control Resonant. While we saw some gameplay footage during previous showcases, the truth is that many things were still a mystery in this sequel. But now, several outlets had the chance to see more of it, and it turns out everything might be just what all action fans have asked for, with some RPG elements sprinkled on top. That’s right, the previews are out, and Control Resonant could bring many of the things that the action genre has been lacking.
Control Resonant Previews Praise the Action-RPG Elements
If you didn’t know, a couple of outlets were able to see a hands-off preview of Control Resonant ahead of its launch. While many of us already saw the vastly different approach that this sequel is taking, it is great to see that there’s now more information out there, and many details that will cater to action and RPG fans alike, although we think the former will be even more excited.
Nowadays, we live in a soulslike-centric world, or rather, in a world where every game out there sees a melee weapon and suddenly thinks it is a soulslike. Fortunately, Control Resonant might be the palate cleanser for this.
As shown in the hands-off previews, Control Resonant is embracing the action aspect and moving away from the gameplay that we saw in Control. It is taking an almost Devil May Cry approach to its combat, with combat being faster and flashier, and also with hordes of enemies ready to be crushed by Dylan’s new supernatural weapon.
However, it isn’t all just action, as Remedy is also adding several RPG elements to the game, with a strong focus on build-crafting and even some dialogue choices to flesh out everything happening around our new protagonist. The studio also mentioned that you will need more than one playthrough to unlock everything, which sounds quite intriguing.
While the original Control was a superb game, Control Resonant is already looking bigger and better. It might be strange to move away from Jesse’s gameplay mechanics, but the truth is that watching Dylan soar through the city and then slam his hammer on the ground is just as fantastic. Of course, we still don’t know when exactly we’ll get our hands on this new action-RPG, but we know the wait will be worth it.
