Square Enix has been referring to update 1.20 as a major update for The DioField Chronicle as it changes the game quite a bit. The update brings massive changes to the core game among other minor fixes. Some of the biggest changes to the game have to be the new story content featuring Waltaquin Redditch, new gameplay mechanics, new equipment/skills, and the addition of the “very hard” difficulty setting for all the masochists out there. Additional new story content starring Waltaquin Redditch
- Follow the events from Waltaquin joining the Blue Fox up to Chapter 5 and see the story unfolding from her perspective.
Gameplay mechanics, maps, missions, and boss
- Featuring new events that present Waltaquinโs thoughts and deliberations as options for the player. Explore new maps, take on new missions and fight the fearsome new boss โBehemothโ.
Equipment and skills
- The new โMagic Tomeโ equipment type and the โNecrotiemโ skill that can be used with it open up new tactical possibilities, not seen in the original game.
New difficulty level and play mode unlocked after completing the game
- This update introduces the new โVery Hardโ difficulty level that offers players an even more satisfying challenge, as well as an extra mode where the difficulty level is pitched at players who have completed the main story.

- Adjustments to game balance in certain areas.
