At the end of The Division’s open beta weekend, Ubisoft has announced that 6.4 million players logged on in just 4 days.
The newest Tom Clancy game was open to XBOX One users on February 18th, and then to PS4 and PC players on the 19th. Through the data, Ubisoft says they found some pretty interesting (but not necessarily surprising) numbers come up by the end of the weekend.
Forst and foremost, the developers are really touting the fact that such a massive amount of players logged in and played the open beta. The 6.4 million users is an IP beta record for consoles, quite the accomplishment. The previous beta received pretty high praise during its time just a few weeks ago, which could have helped drive up the user base this time around. Here are some of the other numbers Ubisoft released from the weekend:
- The average play time over the four days averaged to 5 hours per user
- The Dark Zone (PVP area) was played for about 2 hours per player
- 50% of all Dark Zone players turned Rogue
“Going Rogue” is a way to steal or run and gun your way to sweet loot drops and pick ups. During the closed and open beta, there were tactics used by many that almost “cheated the system,” but it’s interesting to see a fairly even 50/50 split of Rogue players. Is that too high? Time will tell. Any players who chose to play within the Dark Zone were able to gear and level up to 12 while PvE players would cap out at 8.
Did you participate in the closed or open betas? How was your experience playing? Is The Division a game you’ll be picking up on March 8th?
