The Expendables 4, starring Sylvester Stallone and Jason Statham, released a new poster at CinemaCon earlier today, and the news has fans buzzing with excitement.
The Expendables movie series began in 2010 and depicts Barney Ross (Stallone), Lee Christmas (Statham), Yin Yang (Jet Li), Gunner Jensen (Dolph Lundgren), Hale Caesar (Terry Crews), and Toll Road (Randy Couture) as a ragtag band of mercenaries. In The Expendables, the gang is hired by the CIA to overthrow a Latin American dictator backed by ex-CIA agent James Munroe (Eric Roberts).
The movie series continues with The Expendables 2 (2012), where the group embarks on a revenge quest after losing one of their own, and The Expendables 3 (2014), where they have to take down Conrad Stonebanks, their group co-founder and an arms dealer set on wiping them out.
What’s New With The Expendables 4
According to Comicbook.com, The Expendables 4, set to release in 2022, will feature Stallone, Statham, Lundgren, and Couture reprising their roles from earlier in the series. New cast members include Megan Fox, Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson, Iko Uwais, and Andy Garcia, among others listed on the new poster. Stallone will also reprise his role as director, though this will reportedly be his last appearance in the series. Following Stallone’s departure from the series, MovieWeb reports that The Expendables could continue as a TV series, or that Statham could take over the leading role though what this means for Barney Ross and how it will affect the movie plot is currently unknown.
The Expendables 4 poster, first revealed by One Take News on Twitter, features the cast’s silhouettes backed by an explosion and the tagline “They’ll die when they’re dead.” The poster was released at CinemaCon, which will take place over four days between April 25th and 28th, 2022, and will be hosted out of Caesars Palace in Las Vegas.
