One of 2024’s most mysterious and trippy horror movies has its first teaser. M. Night Shyamalan’s daughter Ishana has made her directorial debut with The Watchers, which has a trailer starring Dakota Fanning (seen below). The first-time director, who also penned the screenplay, continues on her father’s path with this high-concept horror film.
The film follows Mina (Fanning), a young artist traveling in Ireland. When her car breaks down, she thinks she is lost until she finds shelter with three strangers. Soon, she realizes that she is not so safe there as invisible entities known as Watchers stalk them every night. The leading star is joined by Olwen Fouéré, Georgina Campbell, Siobhan Hewlett, Hannah Howland, and Alistair Brammer.

The film is an adaptation of A.M. Shine’s 2021 novel of the same name. The story is filled with the paranormal, tension, and a mystery that will unfold as Mina searches for answers to these haunting observers hidden in the woods.
The Watchers trailer has given us a look at how Ishana Shyamalan will make a name for herself in the industry. She has gained experience from both her father and on her own. She was a producer and writer on the horror series Servant, which had some episodes directed by her dad. The Apple TV series ran from 2019 to 2023 with actors Lauren Ambrose, Nell Tiger Free, Toby Kebbell, Rupert Grint, and Tony Revolori. She joined him as a second unit director on Old.
The Sixth Sense director produced the project with Ashwin Rajan and Nimitt Mankad. Executive producers include Jo Homewood and Stephen Dembitzer.
New Line Cinema presents the film while Warner Bros. will distribute it for a June 7 domestic release. Internationally, the film will debut on June 5.
