Star Wars Outlaws is finally here and let me tell you, it is a proper Star Wars adventure for any fans of the franchise. If you didn’t know, this game takes place between the events of Episode V and Episode VI, which means Darth Vader is still breathing heavily around the galaxy, and Luke is getting his arm fixed before the big showdown. With that in mind, there are many easter eggs in Star Wars Outlaws, and we’ve made a list of all the ones we could find.
Note: Big spoilers for the game’s main story, especially during its final chapters.
Everyone’s Favorite Droids
The Galaxy of Star Wars has many iconic characters, but I would say that some of the best ones are C3PO and R2-D2. Also, these characters appear in all Star Wars films, so it was only time they found their way to Outlaws, well, kind of. While these are not the actual droids we love because, at the time, they are busy planning Han Solo’s rescue, these two are a clear reference to them.
The Baron of Cloud City
Lando Calrissian goes by many titles, but before becoming the Baron of Cloud City, he was one of the best gamblers in the galaxy. As you travel through the underworld and pursue the high-stake Sabacc games, you’ll encounter Lando, who will send you on a quest. We already knew he’d show up in the game as part of the season pass, but it was nice to see him around before his DLC. I won’t spoil the surprise for you, but as long as you follow the Sabacc quests, he’ll appear.
Into the Sarlacc’s Jaws
Back when I was a kid, I thought being inside a Sarlacc was one of the scariest things ever. What does Star Wars Outlaws do? It gives us a quest to enter the jaws of one. Don’t worry, it is dead. While the moment was fleeting, it was nice to stand at the edge of Boba Fett’s “ruin” and just climb around its innards. Yeah, that last part doesn’t sound too pleasing. Still, it is a fun easter egg and one I wasn’t expecting.
The Cursed Booth
The Mos Eisley cantina booth is as famous as the planet where it is located. We all know about the whole “Who shot first?” debate and how this place is just a hive of scum and villainy. Color me surprised when the developers of Star Wars Outlaws added an easter egg to commemorate one of the best scenes in Episode IV. If you are patient enough, the NPCs will mention something about the booth, making the easter egg much better, so stay around to eavesdrop for a bit.
The Terror of the Dune Sea
In previous media, we’ve already seen indications of Krayt Dragons, the fearsome creature that stalks the Dune Sea. The Mandalorian gave us an even better look at it, which was great because we only saw this creature’s skeleton before. In Outlaws, if you’re riding your speeder through the desert, you’ll notice the sands moving from time to time. After a while, a Krayt Dragon will start chasing you. I didn’t stay long enough to see what would happen, but I imagine it wouldn’t have been a happy ending.
Jabba’s Favorite Pet
We already knew Jabba would play a big part after we saw the game’s reveal trailer. With that in mind, we knew that we would visit his palace eventually. What was in that place? The one and only Rancor. The great thing about this easter egg is that it takes a lot of screentime as it is a proper boss battle. It isn’t the most challenging one, but it is great to see Kay Vess stand her ground against this iconic creature.
The Deadliest Bounty Hunter in the Galaxy
In a mission where you have to infiltrate Jabba’s palace, you’ll encounter Boba Fett inside a room. You can’t interact with him, so thank the Force for that. However, you’ll see him looking at what I think was his potential new bounties and just standing there with the iconic Mandalorian armor we all know and love. I’m glad Jabba didn’t put Boba to hunt Kay because the game would’ve taken a different turn.
A Hero In Carbonite
The ending of Episode V is, in my opinion, one of the best in the whole franchise. Luke lost his hand, and the crew lost his smuggler. Since the game takes place after The Empire Strikes Back, Han Solo is already Jabba’s prized possession, and you can admire him in all his Carbonite splendor.
A Separatist Droid Factory
Of all the places I thought we would visit, a Separatist droid factory wasn’t on my bingo card. Since ND-5 fought in the Clone Wars, I thought he’d be the only “easter egg” of that tumultuous time, but Star Wars Outlaws went a bit deeper (no pun intended). One quest will take you to the depths of this factory, and you can observe many of the classic “Roger, Roger” droids the Jedi Knights certainly hated for a while.
The Dark Lord of the Sith
I always tell myself, “Please, stop showing Darth Vader every chance you can.” However, once I see him appear on screen, I can’t help but scream with excitement. And yes, Darth Vader was my favorite cameo. He doesn’t appear much, but the moment he shows up, he does it flawlessly. He once again shows why he is the Dark Lord of the Sith and makes a fantastic impression in the game.
So far, these are most of the easter eggs we’ve found in Star Wars Outlaws, but with so many quests we’ve yet to discover, I imagine there are more to find. Frankly, I’m glad the easter eggs are quite contained and don’t play such a big part in the game as they let the new crew take the spotlight. Still, it is always nice to see some of the things and characters that surprised us before.
