Today the founder of Oculus, Palmer Luckey, made an exciting announcement that he was “blown away” by the PlayStation VR 2 virtual reality headset by Sony. Luckey replied to the head of PlayStation Indies, Shuhei Yoshida, and said that he had the chance to try out the new headset.
“I was blown away when I used PSVR 2 recently,” he said. “The first PSVR was arguably the biggest success of the generation, this version will do even better.”
The PlayStation VR 2 Will Blow It Out of The Water
There are many upgrades that have been made to the PlayStation VR 2 headset that the past PS VR didn’t have or even the Oculus/Meta Quest 2. This headset is being released seven years later than the first one and will have the same amazing Dualsense controllers as the PS5 console. The upgrade includes things like better cameras, as well as the overall VR screen being OLED 4K, and there will be many games released for the launch of the headset.
The price has definitely increased after the PSVR was considered the best “budget-friendly” headset on the market. This new VR headset from Sony costs $549.99, which is $50 more than the PlayStation 5 console itself. There is also a bundle you can purchase, which includes Horizon: Call of the Mountain, which will be available until launch on February 22nd, which is an extra $50. However, you can still buy the headset by itself with some of the 20ish games released at launch.
So far, this bundle is the only bundle confirmed for the PSVR 2 so far, although, Sony did announce a $49.99 charging station for your controller that you can purchase as an optional accessory. There is still a lot that hasn’t been talked about or announced yet, but some really cool games will be available on launch day and some coming later, like Ghostbusters VR and Resident Evil Village.
