One of the greatest comic book stories, Batman: The Killing Joke is currently being adapted into an animated movie. After months of rumors and speculation, Warner Bros. Animation has confirmed Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamill will return as Batman and the Joker respectively for the project.
Conroy and Hamill voiced the iconic characters in the popular 1990s cartoon Batman: The Animated Series, they will be joined by co-star Tara Strong who voices Batgirl/Barbara Gordon and Ray Wise, known for Commissioner Gordon.
Hamil and Conroy spoke of their excitement about reuniting with former colleagues in an interview with CBR,ย “The chance to work once again with Kevin Conroy, my favorite Batman, in what some consider the definitive origin of this iconic villain is a dream come true for me,” Hamill explained. “I am beyond thrilled to return as The Joker in ‘The Killing Joke!”

Batman: The Killing Joke was written by comic book legend Alan Moore and illustrated by Brian Bolland, it is widely regarded as the best Joker origin story in addition to a turning point in the story of Barbara Gordon. The book has been referenced in almost every version of the Joker, from 1989’s Batman to The Dark Knight.
