We covered the original trailer release for The Revenant, back in July with the promise of keeping you updated on the film’s progress. As fate would have it; a new television spot aired last night for 20th Century Fox and New Regency’s, The Revenant.
Leonardo DiCaprio stars in the epic movie adventure, inspired by a true story, about one man’s journey for survival in the wild. A number of set photos have been revealed, in addition to the new TV spot trailer.
The Revenant is an American adventure-thriller film based on the 2002 novel by Michael Punke. Development began in 2001 when Oscar-winning producer Akiva Goldsman acquired the rights to the novel, an unpublished manuscript at the time. The film found its lead with DiCaprio, after shuffling through a list of potential actors such as Christian Bale. The screenplay was written by Mark L. Smith and Alejandro G. Iñárritu. The film’s stars include Tom Hardy, Will Poulter and Domhnall Gleeson.
The official breakdown for The Revenant is as follows:
“Inspired by true events, THE REVENANT is an immersive and visceral cinematic experience capturing one man’s epic adventure of survival and the extraordinary power of the human spirit. In an expedition of the uncharted American wilderness, legendary explorer Hugh Glass (Leonardo DiCaprio) is brutally attacked by a bear and left for dead by members of his own hunting team. In a quest to survive, Glass endures unimaginable grief as well as the betrayal of his confidant John Fitzgerald (Tom Hardy). Guided by sheer will and the love of his family, Glass must navigate a vicious winter in a relentless pursuit to live and find redemption. THE REVENANT is directed and co-written by renowned filmmaker, Academy Award® winner Alejandro G. Iñárritu (Birdman, Babel).”
