The Real Housewives franchise may not be known for the depths of its content or its substantive nature, but that’s not why we watch, is it? However, there is one thing you can unequivocally rely on: these folks are gonna fight. While some of the fights, over the years, have been pretty heavy (looking at you Kenya Moore’s bullhorn) there are many frivolous, ridiculous feuds that no one could reasonably take all that seriously. Here’s a look at some of the silliest fights in Housewives history.
“You Smell Like Hospital”
Before Jen Shah was doing her time in prison at the Federal Prison Camp, she was fighting with Mary Crosby on The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City about why the latter snubbed the former at an event. In this case, Mary had a reasonable explanation: Jen “smelled like hospital.” Jen explained that she had just come from there, but Mary couldn’t get past it, and likely never will.
Donkey Booty vs. Stallion Booty
Fans may (or may not) remember The Real Housewives of Atlanta’s foray into the world of fitness, but it caused quite a fuss. The feud started when Kenya Moore and Phaedra Parks couldn’t come to terms with the collaboration of Phaedra’s workout video, Donkey Booty, and Kenya released her workout video, Stallion Booty, as a direct competitor. Needless to say, it didn’t go over well with Phaedra and it contributed to the bad blood between the two.
The Maloof Hoof
Among the silliest of all the fights on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills was the argument between Adrienne Maloof and Lisa Vanderpump over what Adrienne should call her new shoe line. In an attempt at levity, Lisa suggested it should be called “The Maloof Hoof” and Adrienne didn’t take the joke well, and a classic RHOBH argument ensued. Not reading the room very well, Lisa claimed the more flattering name “The Vander Pump” for herself, perpetuating Adrienne’s annoyance at the dig.
“You Don’t Come For My Bathtub”
Few things are more sacred, apparently, to RHOSLC’s Meredith Marks than her tub time with hubby Seth, and her commitment to them caused a real fight this season. Fellow castmate, Whitney Rose, has some feelings about co-bathing and made some disparaging remarks. She implied that it is gross and that solo baths are a more hygienic practice. Meredith took that “dirty bathtub” comment personally, which started, inexplicably, an episodes-long fight 100 between the two.
Malibu Country
It doesn’t seem like Reba McEntire would be the cause of a Houseviews argument, but leave it to the ladies of RHOBH to put her in the middle of a casting controversy. Heather Dubrow bragged to her cast mates that she was up for a role on the short-lived sitcom, Malibu Country. However, both Alexis Bellino and Gretchen Rossi claimed they were offered the part as well, creating a she said/she said that pitted the would-be actresses against each other for the better part of that season.
A Poop Hat
Viewers expected The Real Housewives of Dallas to be a classier bunch, but Brandi Redmond had other ideas for one of the first charity events of the season. LeeAnne Lockent, a self-proclaimed charity expert was offended when Brandi took the event’s theme April in Paris to a disgusting place by showing up with plastic poop on her giant hat. The Dallas ladies discussed the infamous poop hat for the rest of the season, dispelling any notions of class or elegance audiences may have had.
#Puppygate
Once again, the RHOBH ladies found a completely inane thing to argue about and parlayed the saga of Lucy Lucy Apple Juice into one of the main plot points of the season. What began as a simple puppy adoption quickly spiraled out of control when Dorit Kemsley allegedly rehomed the puppy without returning her to Lisa Vanderpump’s rescue organization. The tale took a lot of twists and turns and eventually involved assistants, a set-up scheme, husbands, and pages and pages of printed texts.
#Pantygate
From #puppygate to #pantygate, RHOBH ladies really hit rock bottom (and succeeded in being wildly insulting and creepy to boot) with this fight. It all started at the pre-game for a White Party at one 100 of Lisa Vanderpump’s restaurants when it became clear that Erika Girardi wasn’t wearing anything under her dress. At the time, it was an offhand comment that got a few chuckles out of the group, but in true Housewives fashion, it spiraled into a much bigger deal. Staying classy as always, PK insinuated she may have meant to flash him her bits and Erika’s virtue was called into question for a good bit of the season.
“Are You A Cook Or A Chef?”
One of the most infamous episodes The Real Housewives of New York features an unhinged Kelly Bensimon attacking 100 Bettheny Frankel in the van, on the boat, at dinner, and several in-between locations. Affectionately called “Scary Island” by fans, it has become Housewives canon and is s template for reality television drama. Although the episode contains a lot of differing arguments and intersecting beefs, including whether or not gummy bears had processed sugar in them, one of the main points of contention between Kelly and Bethenny was whether the latter was a “cook or a chef.”
A Bleeped Restaurant
In The Real Housewives of New York reboot, viewers were introduced to a whole new cast of women. In the season 14 premiere, Brynn Whitfield and Sai Di Sliva lied about a night out with costar Erin Lichy. They begged off a dinner that Erin Lichy had arranged, but the RHONY producers bleeped the name of the restaurant then they talked about it later. This was probably because Brynn suggested it wasn’t chic enough for them to be seen there and Sai said it was “for teenagers.” Erin later revealed it was the restaurant, Catch, but the ladies argued for two episodes about it, all the while, it was being bleeped out every time they mentioned it.
