Today has been a day full of surprises for Warhammer fans, as the Skulls showcase unveiled one title that none of us were expecting, especially after looking at the protagonists. For those who missed it, Old Skull Games and Dotemu unveiled Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Deathmaster, a new standalone 2D-platformer that puts you in the ambitious shoes of a Skaven as he tries to rise through his clan’s ranks. This title will bring that iconic platforming gameplay, but with several stealth-oriented mechanics that fans of the sneaker side of gaming will love.

While a short announcement, the reveal of Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Deathmaster was a welcome surprise to many, as it is a fresh take on the Warhammer universe with a faction that we rarely see in the protagonist role.

Deathmaster will have you live the story of Ratman Vihneek as he makes his way through the ranks of the Eshin clan. Since Vihneek is a Skaven, he’ll do anything in his power to achieve his goals, meaning using some treacherous techniques to eliminate those in front of him.

The game will feature several 2D platforming mechanics, but with several stealth systems thrown into the mix. You’ll be able to set traps for enemies to trigger, perform brutal takedowns on unsuspecting prey, and defeat any Skaven that crosses your path.

While many of us would like to learn more about this title, we’ll have to wait a bit, as this short teaser only scratched the surface of what we might expect once the game goes live. Speaking of which, Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Deathmaster only has a 2027 release window but has already confirmed its launch platforms: PC, Nintendo Switch 2, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S.

Even if Deathmaster is set in the Age of Sigmar universe, the developers have already said that this is a self-contained adventure, yet one that will delve into the Skaven universe like nothing we’ve seen before. So, if you can’t wait to skulk around in the shadows, remember to follow the Dotemu’s social media accounts for more updates on this new stealthy adventure.
