Replaced has been in the works for years, and the developer Sad Cat Studios, along with the publisher Coatsink, have announced yet again that the game is being delayed once more. The sci-fi atmospheric side-scroller was planned to come out in 2024, but the new release date for Replaced has been moved to sometime in 2025.
This isn’t the first time Replaced has been delayed, because initially, it was planned for release in 2023, which was then pushed to this year, and now onward to 2025. It was originally revealed way back in 2021 and has been highly anticipated since then due to its unique art style and atmosphere design.
The announcement was made through X (formerly Twitter) and the reason for the delay is as run of the mill as they come. The developer believes that the initial release date was extremely optimistic, and the game has proved a lot more challenging than expected. But the team is hard at work and is trying to make something special.
More time is needed before the game will reach the studio’s vision for it. So Replaced fans will have to wait for more details, as well as the exact release date.
The last time we saw Replaced in action was during the Summer Game Fest and Sad Cat Studios announced that it will be playable during Gamescom. But for those who can not visit, the company teased “something special” for next week, likely another trailer and possibly an announcement of the release date.
Replaced will come out on Xbox Series S|X, Xbox One, and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store. It will also be available on Xbox Game Pass. As for the release date, we will have to wait to find out when we will finally get a chance to step into the retro-futuristic world of Replaced.
