Have you ever wondered what it would be like to film a TV show during a global pandemic? Maybe you want to see what a TV set with coronavirus restrictions looks like. The Walking Dead has you covered with an upcoming special. The AMC zombie drama will return to our screens later this month with six additional episodes in season 10. However, before it returns to our screens, AMC is giving us a sneak peek at just how different it was to film during a pandemic.
Of course, countless film and TV sets have been forced to shut down over the last year. This comes to prevent to spread of COVID-19. The Walking Dead was hit with delays across the entire franchise. Both The Walking Dead: World Beyond and Fear the Walking Dead were hit with delays. Perhaps most notably, the season 10 finale was pushed back months. The six new episodes bring six new unique stories. We’ll hopefully learn what Maggie has been up to during her absence. Fans are most excited for “Here’s Negan,” an adaptation of the Negan origin story comic by Robert Kirkman.
Despite various pushbacks, the show began filming once again in Georgia in October 2020. This was for the six additional episodes coming soon. But once it returned to filming, the set had been radically changed. The social distancing measures put in place changed the entire set. Thanks to The Walking Dead: Making the Extended 10th Season, fans can now get a first-hand look at exactly how the new episodes were filmed. They even premiered a short trailer, which you can watch below:
