Texas Rep. Brandon Gill accused Democrats of using immigration to strengthen their political position, arguing that noncitizens can affect congressional representation. The remarks came during a Fox News appearance focused on immigration and Democratic policy. Gill said Democrats believe they “represent foreigners and illegal aliens” while also seeing immigration as “a path towards electoral success.”
He argued that a larger non-citizen population can influence congressional apportionment. “They can keep [people] in the United States to impact the congressional apportionment in their favor,” Gill said.
The Texas Republican also claimed Democrats see immigrants as “potential Democrat voters.” He accused the party of believing those votes could eventually help secure political gains.
Gill said he believes Democrats view immigration as a path to electoral advantage. “So they’re willing to do anything that they believe could help that,” he said.
