A Texas man’s arrest was caught on video after an officer held him face-down while he repeatedly asked why he was being arrested. He says he was told he had an active warrant, only to later learn it had been inactivated. The arrest left viewers divided over the force used and whether the man’s alleged attempt to flee justified it.
Posted to TikTok by @majormike__, the video picks up mid-arrest, with an officer already on top of him, pinning his arms above his head. A woman filming off camera asks what the warrant is for, but the officer doesn’t answer directly. The Texas creator asks repeatedly to be put in handcuffs instead, telling the officer he won’t run, but the officer refuses, reminding him that he already ran once.
The exchange grows more tense as Majormike says he’s uncomfortable and can’t breathe, while the officer insists he stop moving. When Majormike asks what he supposedly has a warrant for, the officer only responds that he “knows what he has,” without elaborating. Backup eventually arrives, and two more officers help him up and walk him to the patrol car.
According to his caption, the Texas TikToker said the officer never told him he was being detained, only that he had a warrant for his arrest. He said once he was already in the patrol car, the officer admitted the warrant was inactive.
Some Viewers Called the Force Unnecessary
Outrage was common among many commenters. “So sick of these [expletive] racist cops,” one wrote. Another argued that the force used was completely unnecessary given the situation.
Several viewers focused on the danger of the position officers put him in. “He needs to get off of him. They kill people like that. He asked him to put in handcuffs. He should at least attempt to try so he’s not suffocating him with his body,” someone else argued. Another added, “They are weird. This should not be allowed laying on someone like that.”
The legal side of the Texas arrest drew its own reactions. “They didn’t read his rights when they took him away in handcuffs, that’s all I’m saying, he deserves the justice that he deserves because they messed up,” one commenter offered. Someone else pointed to the mix-up over the warrant itself as grounds for a lawsuit.
A handful of commenters turned their attention to the woman filming instead, criticizing her camera work. “She not even recording right for the evidence,” one pointed out. Another was more pointed about it, writing, “You got 1 JOB… Record the DANG scene what are you doing.”
Not everyone read the arrest as excessive, though. One commenter pushed back directly on the racism accusations, pointing out that Majormike had run from police and wasn’t wearing shoes, and argued the officer simply held him down until backup arrived without striking him.
For many viewers, videos like these carry more weight than a single arrest. They tap into a much older frustration, particularly in communities of color, around harsh policing.
