This summer, a new threat emerges from the cosmos to wreak havoc in Thor Annual #1. This special one-shot unites Jackson Lanzing and Collin Kelly with artist Ibraim Roberson. Together, the creative team spins a tale of epic proportions as Thor takes on the godly-powered M.O.D.O.K.
Thor Annual #1
This summer one-shot promises a godly battle between the God of Thunder and one of the Marvel Universe’s deadliest villains. However, this version of M.O.D.O.K. is a bit different than what readers are used to. Having successfully accomplished his goals, the Marvel villain has evolved into a being of cosmic proportions. Now, he is more than a match for the God of Thunder and has his sights set on the Ten Realms.
Vowing to never be a pawn in someone else’s plans, this new version of M.O.D.O.K. seizes control of nine of the ten realms. The only one left is Asgard, and Thor is doing all he can to stop this godly villain from getting his hands on it. Thor must regain control of the Realms and the World Tree, but M.O.D.O.K.’s new powers are proving a greater threat than anticipated. Thankfully, he has some great friends on Midgard to give him a hand.
Creating a Once-In-A-Lifetime Battle!
The team behind Thor Annual #1 is up to the challenge of creating an epic showdown in a single issue. Writers Jackson Lanzing and Collin Kell are currently busy making history with the Guardians of the Galaxy. The duo is setting up the epic Grootfall event for the legendary space team. Meanwhile, artist Ibraim Roberson is bringing the world of Star Wars: Darth Vader to vivid life.
Speaking to Marvel, Lanzing shared how “wildly honored” he and Collin are to contribute to the “glorious legacy of Thor.” He went on to share that “Annuals are a wonderful way to dig into a unique aspect of a character…so we are taking Thor through a gauntlet of epic proportions to face down the self-doubt that plagues him”. But is Thor truly worthy of the title All-Father, or is this new evolution of M.O.D.O.K. a better replacement?
