THQ Nordic has announced the spin-off game Rebel Cops for release September 17. The game is set in the same universe as the game This is the Police. Rebel Cops has players returning to the same world but this time with a twist. The members of the police force you once called friends are now your foe. The police in this game are now being paid by the criminal mastermind you swore to stop. The criminal mastermind Viktor Zuev took over the town of Ripton and the police officers you once knew have now sworn an oath to Zuev.
You play as a set of rogue officers who have ditched the squad cars and went underground. Your objective in this game is to weaken Zuev’s allies and his organization. Rebel Cops is similar to This is the Police due to its turn-based missions and mechanics. There are no hit points in this game. Once a character is hit, dependent on where they’re hit, bleed out slowly or die instantly. You’ll have to act fast to save your fellow exiled cops from bleeding out once shot, stabbed, or worse.
Rebel Cops offers players the opportunity to explore nearby settlements and take what’s available to use on future missions. These future missions can take you from a small, stealthy warehouse environment to an all-out firefight at the docks. These open-ended missions allow players to choose how they want to fight. The only objective that must be met is serving cold, hard justice to Viktor Zuev. Ripton has been bought and turn belly up and it’s your job how to serve that justice.
Rebel Cops allows for players to either take the high road morally speaking, or kill each one of these criminals. As you play and find criminals, you can arrest them right then and there or take the more dangerous route. Any way you take will determine how the other underground rebel cops will relate to you. Let us know in the comments below if you’ll be playing Rebel Cops and if you choose the moral high ground to serve some justice to these criminals.
